Senate Prepares Bipartisan Continuing Resolution

Senator McConnell calls it the “clearest path forward.”

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said a bipartisan group of senators worked over the weekend and came up with a continuing resolution deal which he called a “good, sensible, and bipartisan bill.”

On Tuesday afternoon, Senator Schumer said from the Senate floor, “This bipartisan CR is a temporary solution, a bridge toward cooperation and away from extremism. It will allow us to keep working to fully fund the federal government and spare American families the pain of a shutdown.”

He said the text would be released “very soon,” and the deal would continue funding for the government at current levels. The commitment to Ukraine would also be maintained.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said, “The clearest path forward is a standard short-term continuing resolution. Delaying action on short-term funding doesn’t advance the ball on any meaningful policy priorities.”

A vote in the Senate on the continuing resolution is set for Thursday evening.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for members of the Senate as they prepare to vote on the continuing resolution to keep the government running.
  • For House Speaker McCarthy and representatives in the House as government funding negotiations are ongoing.
